Sexually Transmitted Infections

In recent years, Fresno County has seen an increase in sexually transmitted infections. In 2017, Fresno County ranked in the top 10 highest California counties for syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea incidence rate. An incidence rate measures the number of new cases of a disease divided by the number of people in a population at risk for developing the disease. Young people ages 15-24 and some minorities are most at risk for these diseases.

You can prevent STDs by practicing abstinence or using a condom correctly every time you have sex. Some STDs even have vaccines. Talk with your partner(s) about staying safe, and get tested because many STDs don't have any symptoms. Find free confidential testing near you.
